On the morning of October 14, 2013 (local time in America), Shaolin Cultural Forum and Dialogue of Civilizations were held in Los Angeles Convention Center. Ven. Abbot Shi Yongxin of Shaolin Temple, Leland Yee, senator of California, Professor Du weiming, dean of the Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies, PKU, Master Yanli, secretary general of Shaolin Association of North America and Master Yanyin, who is in charge of Sri Lanka Zhulin Temple were present.

Ven. Abbot Yongxin introduced Shaolin culture

At the beginning of the Forum, Ven. Abbot Yongxin introduced the origin of Shaolin culture including the history of Shaolin Temple, the inheritance and development of Shaolin Chan medicine and the efforts Shaolin Temple had made in recent years. Ven. Abbot Yongxin emphasized that people’s ultimate aim of gaining peace, wisdom, liberation and freedom can be achieved by cultivating themselves. He invited the audience to visit Shaolin Temple and experience cultivation life.
